Main work of a Telecom Quality Engineer

1. Site Quality Inspection
   • Inspect telecom tower, BTS, fiber, power, and transmission installations.
   • Check whether installation matches approved drawings and specifications.
   • Identify defects and ensure they are corrected.
2. Fiber Optic Quality
   • Check fiber laying, splicing, termination, and routing.
   • Perform/verify OTDR and power-meter tests.
   • Check attenuation, insertion loss, and link performance.
   • Verify fiber labeling and documentation.
3. Tower & Civil Work
   • Inspect tower foundation, bolts, earthing, cable routing, and structural work.
   • Check material quality and workmanship.
   • Verify that construction follows approved drawings.
4. Equipment Installation
   • Check installation of BTS/BBU/RRU, antennas, cabinets, batteries, rectifiers, and transmission equipment.
   • Verify cable dressing, connectors, grounding, and labeling.
   • Ensure equipment is installed according to OEM/customer standards.
5. Testing & Commissioning
   • Review test results before site acceptance.
   • Verify alarms, power systems, transmission links, and network equipment.
   • Support troubleshooting when test results don't meet specifications.
6. Documentation
   • Prepare Quality Inspection Reports (QIR).
   • Maintain checklists, test reports, punch lists, and site acceptance documents.
   • Review Method Statements, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and as-built drawings.
7. NCR & Corrective Action
   • Raise NCR (Non-Conformance Report) when work doesn't meet requirements.
   • Identify the root cause.
   • Follow up until corrective action is completed.
8. Coordination
   • Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, vendors, RF engineers, civil teams, and project managers.
   • Conduct quality audits and site inspections.
