Role Purpose : To supervise paint-shop activities and ensure that fabricated components and equipment are painted, finished and released as per production requirements, quality standards and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Allocate and supervise the daily work of painters and helpers.
• Ensure proper surface preparation, including cleaning, grinding, masking, putty application and primer coating.
• Supervise spray-painting and finishing of fabricated structures, machine components and equipment.
• Ensure correct mixing and use of primer, paint, thinner and other consumables as per approved requirements.
• Check paint finish for shade, uniformity, runs, peeling, rusting, scratches and other visible defects.
• Carry out basic checks of paint thickness using a DFT gauge, wherever required.
• Ensure painting work is completed as per the production plan and component movement schedule.
• Coordinate with Fabrication, Assembly, Stores and Quality teams for timely availability and clearance of components.
• Monitor paint and consumable usage, minimise wastage and maintain basic stock/consumption records.
• Ensure proper handling and upkeep of spray guns, hoses, compressors, painting tools and related equipment.
• Report manpower requirements, delays, quality issues, rework and equipment breakdowns to the reporting manager.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience in industrial spray painting.
• Knowledge of surface preparation, primer coating and final paint application.
• Ability to identify common paint defects and ensure rectification.
• Basic understanding of paint mixing ratios and thinner usage.
• Ability to supervise shop-floor manpower and maintain work discipline.
• Awareness of PPE, fire safety and safe handling of paints and thinners.
