Job Description

Job Summary :

Job Overview : We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Junior Welder to join our production team. In this entry-level role, you will work under the guidance of senior welders to perform welding and fabrication tasks on specialized firefighting vehicles. You will assist in welding structural frames, vehicle superstructures, storage lockers, and high-pressure water/foam pipelines.

Technical Skills:

    • Hands-on familiarity with MIG/MAG welding processes (TIG welding knowledge is a major plus).

    • Basic ability to adjust welding current, voltage, and gas flow rates for different metal thicknesses.

    • Familiarity with basic workshop tools like angle grinders, chipping hammers, and measuring tapes.

    • Ability to understand basic welding safety and symbols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welding Operations:

    • Perform basic MIG/CO2 (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding on Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum sheets or structures based on instructions.

    • Maintain consistent weld quality, ensuring clean beads, proper penetration, and minimal distortion or warping.

  • Joint Preparation & Fitment Support:

    • Assist fabricators and fitters in preparing joints by grinding, beveling, cleaning, and removing rust or oil before welding.

    • Clamp, hold, or tack-weld components into position according to basic blueprints or fixtures.

  • Post-Weld Processing:

    • Clean welded joints using chipping hammers, wire brushes, and angle grinders to remove slag and spatter.

    • Visual check your own welds for obvious defects like porosity, cracks, or undercut before sending them to inspection.

  • Safety & Maintenance:

    • Strictly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including welding helmets, safety shoes, leather aprons, and hand gloves.

    • Properly maintain welding machines, torches, gas regulators, and cylinders, reporting any faults to the supervisor.
