Job Purpose:
The Piping Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and coordination of piping systems and layouts for pharmaceutical process plants. The role requires adherence to project specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements, along with close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant turnkey project solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Engineering
Develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, and general arrangement (GA) drawings using AutoCAD, Plant 3D, PDMS, E3D, or equivalent tools.
Execute piping design based on P&IDs, process data sheets, and equipment layouts.
Select appropriate piping materials, valves, and fittings in line with project specifications and cGMP requirements.
Prepare and review line lists, MTOs (Material Take-Offs), and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Design process and utility piping systems such as WFI, Purified Water, Clean Steam, Compressed Air, and other utilities in compliance with ASME B31.3 and applicable standards.
2. Coordination & Design Review
Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and civil teams to ensure integrated and clash-free designs.
Interface with vendors for technical clarifications and review of piping-related drawings and documents.
Participate in design reviews, constructability checks, and 3D model walk-throughs.
3. Documentation & Compliance
Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, client standards, and regulatory guidelines (USFDA, EU GMP, WHO, cGMP, etc.).
Prepare and maintain design documentation, drawing registers, revision histories, and document control records.
Support preparation of technical bid evaluations and engineering deliverables for procurement activities.
4. Site & Project Support
Provide engineering support during project execution, installation, and commissioning phases.
Resolve site-related engineering queries and assist in preparation of as-built drawings and documentation.

Strong understanding of pharmaceutical process and utility piping systems
Excellent knowledge of pipe routing, pipe support design, and space management
Sound understanding of ASME B31.3 and pharma piping standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Proactive approach with high attention to accuracy, compliance, and timelines
