A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness & order in the dining and kitchen areas. They assist with dishwashing, restocking supplies, ensuring a smooth & enjoyable experience for guests. Stewards also handle inquiries, assist with food preparation, & work closely with other staff to maintain high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock Management: Monitoring & replenishing supplies in the dining & kitchen areas.
- Food Preparation Assistance: Assisting with food preparation tasks & presentation.
- Guest Service: Handling guest inquiries, special requests, & complaints with professionalism.
- Coordination with Staff: Working effectively with kitchen staff & waitstaff to ensure smooth service.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Cleaning & sanitizing dishes, utensils, & equipment, ensuring a spotless environment.
- Unloading Supplies: Helping to unload deliveries & stock the kitchen.
- Linen Management: Coordinating with housekeeping on linen cleaning and management.
- Crowd Management (Event Stewards): Managing crowds, ensuring safe & smooth entry/exit at events, & providing security & assistance.
- Table Setting: Assisting with setting tables & ensuring a pleasant dining environment.
Additional Responsibilities::
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills are essential for handling guest inquiries & complaints.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are needed to interact with guests & staff.
- Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills are needed to manage supplies and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Stewards may need to identify & solve problems, such as equipment malfunctions or supply shortages.
- Teamwork: They often work as part of a team & need to be able to collaborate effectively.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: Typically must be 18 years of age to work as a Steward/Waiter.
- Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to interact with customers in a positive & friendly manner.
- Knowledge of Menu: Familiarity with Menu items, various alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails & their ingredients. Knowledge of Food & Beverages.
