Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Operation:

  Operate both manual and CNC lathes, including VTLs, to create various shapes and components. 

• Blueprint Interpretation:

  Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the required machining processes. 

• Tool Selection:

  Choose the appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for specific machining operations. 

• Machine Setup:

  Set up and adjust lathe machines, including selecting cutting tools, clamping workpieces, and calibrating machine settings. 

• Quality Control:

  Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances, using measuring tools and inspection equipment. 

• Maintenance:

  Perform basic maintenance on lathe machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting minor issues. 

• Collaboration:

  Work with engineers and designers to address any issues during production and make necessary adjustments to designs. 

• Record Keeping:

  Maintain accurate records of production processes, materials used, and any defects or issues. 

• Safety Compliance:

  Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. 

Skills Required:

• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of lathe operations, CNC programming (for CNC lathes), and various machining processes. 
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. 
• Measuring and Inspection: Proficiency in using measuring tools and inspection equipment. 
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve machine-related issues. 
• Precision and Accuracy: Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality parts to tight tolerances. 
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to operate machinery safely. 

Experience:

• Some positions may require experience with manual and semi-automatic lathes, as well as CNC lathe experience.
• Experience in a machine shop environment is often preferred.
