The Duty Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless cinema operations during their shift. They are responsible for managing the overall customer experience, supervising frontline staff, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting revenue generation across various departments including box office, concessions, and auditorium management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Oversight
Supervise all cinema functions including ticketing, food & beverage counters, housekeeping, and ushering during assigned shifts.
Monitor auditorium conditions and ensure screenings start on time without technical disruptions.
Liaise with the technical team to resolve projection or sound issues swiftly.
2. Customer Experience Management
Act as the first point of contact for escalated guest concerns and provide timely resolutions.
Ensure staff deliver prompt, polite, and professional service at all customer touchpoints.
Maintain ambience, cleanliness, and hygiene across the premises for an enhanced guest experience.
3. Staff Management
Manage, guide, and motivate team members to ensure productivity and adherence to SOPs.
Conduct shift briefings and assign duties to staff efficiently based on crowd levels and requirements.
Monitor staff performance and report absenteeism, misconduct, or exceptional behavior to the Theatre Manager.
4. Financial & Inventory Management
Handle and verify daily cash collections, billing accuracy, and revenue reports from all counters.
Ensure proper stock control of food, beverages, and consumables; coordinate reordering as needed.
Reconcile POS data with physical cash and stock and report anomalies, if any.
5. Compliance & Safety
Ensure fire safety equipment, emergency exits, and first-aid kits are functional and accessible.
Conduct regular safety drills and ensure staff are trained for emergencies.
Adhere to FSSAI norms, COVID protocols (if applicable), and local legal compliance.
6. Marketing & Upselling
Encourage staff to upsell combo offers, loyalty programs, and premium seating.
Promote ongoing movie launches, offers, or special screenings to customers.
Collaborate with marketing teams for execution of local promotions and campaigns.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or any related field (preferred).
3+ years of experience in hospitality, retail, or cinema operations (at least 1 year in a supervisory role).
