**Job Responsibilities for Finance Officer – Commercial Solar Power Plant:**
1. **Financial Planning & Budgeting:**
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models and forecasts for the solar power plant, ensuring alignment with long-term financial goals and operational plans.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, periodic financial forecasts, and capital expenditure plans for the solar power plant.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to senior management for corrective actions when necessary.
2. **Financial Reporting & Analysis:**
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to assess the plant’s profitability, operational efficiency, and financial health.
- Provide insightful financial reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators, financial risks, and opportunities.
3. **Cash Flow Management:**
- Monitor cash flow and ensure the plant maintains sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations, project costs, and unforeseen expenses.
- Develop and implement cash flow management strategies to optimize working capital, including managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and vendor payments.
- Ensure timely payments to suppliers and contractors while monitoring and minimizing overdue accounts receivable.
4. **Accounts Payable & Receivable:**
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, vendor payments, and client collections.
- Review and verify all incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and contracts.
- Manage relationships with clients and vendors, ensuring timely invoicing and resolution of any financial discrepancies or issues.
5. **Project Financing & Capital Management:**
- Support the management of financing for solar power projects, including capital raising, loans, and equity investments.
- Assist with financial structuring and funding for new projects, working closely with project managers and external financiers to secure necessary capital.
- Track project costs and capital expenditures to ensure financial resources are used effectively and stay within the project budget.
6. **Tax Compliance & Reporting:**
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations related to the solar power plant, including income tax, VAT, and other applicable taxes.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring accurate reporting and timely submission to relevant tax authorities.
- Stay updated on any changes in tax regulations that could impact the financial operations of the solar plant and make necessary adjustments to tax strategies.
7. **Financial Audits & Internal Controls:**
- Prepare for and facilitate internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and relevant financial regulations.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
8. **Cost Management & Profitability Analysis:**
- Analyze cost structures across various departments, including project costs, operations, and maintenance, to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Conduct profitability analysis to evaluate the financial impact of different operational decisions, investments, or changes in production levels.
- Work with project teams to ensure that cost control measures are in place and that projects are completed within budget.
9. **Risk Management & Financial Strategy:**
- Identify financial risks associated with solar power operations, including currency fluctuations, interest rate changes, and project-specific financial risks.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks.
- Develop and monitor financial strategies that align with the company's goals and the solar power plant's operational needs.
10. **Liaison with Stakeholders:**
- Act as the primary point of contact for all financial matters related to the solar power plant, liaising with investors, financial institutions, auditors, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide financial updates and reports to senior management, investors, and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment with strategic objectives.
11. **Sustainability Reporting & Financial Impact:**
- Contribute to the preparation of sustainability and environmental impact reports, especially focusing on the financial performance and economic benefits of renewable energy projects.
- Assess the financial impact of sustainability initiatives and green energy policies on the solar power plant's operations.
12. **Continuous Improvement & Financial System Optimization:**
- Recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in financial reporting and operations.
- Stay current with industry trends, renewable energy financing, and technological advancements that may affect financial management practices.
- Identify and implement best practices to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or finance, preferably within the renewable energy or commercial energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Familiarity with project financing, tax compliance, and capital management, particularly in renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
**Preferred Skills:**
- Experience in managing finances for large-scale commercial solar projects or energy infrastructure.
- Knowledge of sustainable finance practices and government incentives related to renewable energy projects.
- Advanced financial modeling and analysis skills.
