Job Summary:
An Industrial Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for assembling, stitching, and finishing fabric and other materials using industrial sewing machines. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing or textile production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial sewing machines to stitch, assemble, and modify garments, upholstery, or other fabric-based products.
- Read and interpret work orders, patterns, and specifications.
- Maintain high-quality standards by inspecting finished products for defects and making necessary adjustments.
- Perform basic machine maintenance, such as threading, tension adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Ensure efficient production by meeting daily quotas and deadlines.
- Follow safety protocols and workplace cleanliness standards.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience operating industrial sewing machines (lockstitch, overlock, coverstitch, etc.).
- Understanding of different fabrics, threads, and sewing techniques.
- Ability to work with patterns and measurements accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge of sewing equipment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in textile manufacturing, garment production, or upholstery is an advantage.
- Training or certification in sewing techniques is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Standing or sitting for extended periods.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to lift fabric rolls or materials up to 25 lbs.
- Exposure to noise from sewing machines in a factory setting.
