Job Summary
The Elevator Helper supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation systems. The role requires hands-on assistance to technicians and adherence to safety standards. Ideal candidates should have an ITI Diploma in a relevant trade and a willingness to work in diverse conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Assistance in Installation & Maintenance:
- Assist in installing new elevators and escalators.
- Support technicians in carrying out routine and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Help in diagnosing and fixing malfunctions under the guidance of the technician.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety guidelines and use proper tools and equipment.
- Ensure the workspace is safe and hazard-free during operations.
Material Handling:
- Transport and organize tools, spare parts, and materials required for the job.
- Assist in assembling and disassembling elevator components.
Testing and Quality Checks:
- Participate in initial testing of elevator systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Report any issues or irregularities to the supervisor.
Documentation:
- Maintain basic records of tasks performed and components used.
- Assist in preparing reports for completed work.
Coordination:
- Coordinate with the senior technician and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively regarding work progress and challenges.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Education:
- ITI Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics or a related field.
Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of elevator systems and components.
- Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.
- Understanding of electrical circuits and mechanical assembly is a plus.
Physical Fitness:
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Physically fit to lift heavy materials and equipment when required.
Soft Skills:
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Experience (Preferred but not mandatory):
- 0–2 years of experience in elevator installation or maintenance.
