A motor winder's job duties can include:
· Rewinding: Rewinding armatures, stators, rotors, and transformers, including replacing insulation and varnishing
· Assembly: Disassembling, assembling, and testing electric motors, pumps, and gearboxes
· Maintenance: Performing service and maintenance of electrical power tools
· Component replacement: Replacing or reconditioning shafts, bearings, commutators, and other components
· Testing: Testing repaired motors, transformers, switchgear, or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
· Balancing: Performing static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
· Machining: Performing some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators, or other parts
